The world’s largest official One Piece store is set to open in Los Angeles, California, this week, giving residents a taste of the Grand Line. Toei Animation will welcome the Mugiwara Store to its booth at Anime Expo 2024.

Toei Animation’s official X (formerly Twitter) account made an exciting announcement, revealing that Japan’s One Piece Mugiwara Store will be coming to America for the first time ever. The announcement states, “For the first time ever, the One Piece Mugiwara Store is coming to the United States!” Known as the world’s largest One Piece store, we’ll be bringing a special pop-up shop to our Toei Animation exhibit booth (#3706) at Anime Expo 2024 in Los Angeles, featuring a variety of exclusive Japanese merchandise!”
The One Piece Mugiwara Store has its main location in Shibuya, Tokyo’s bustling district, as well as locations in the trendy Harajuku and Ikebukuro neighborhoods. Additional locations include Abeno, Umeda, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Odaiba, and Kumamoto, the hometown of One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda. This pop-up store event at Anime Expo follows America’s first One Piece CafĂ©, as the series gains mainstream popularity.
Anime Expo 2024 will feature a variety of exciting anime events, including the ONE PIECE Music Symphony’s North America tour, which begins on July 6, the launch of the Crunchyroll x Logic x Cowboy Bebop streetwear collection, and the first-ever screening of “Look Back” in the United States, among many others.
Los Angeles is rapidly emerging as a major anime and Japanese franchise hotspot in the United States. Little Akihabara recently announced the opening of the Akiba Maid War Pop-Up Cafe, a collaboration with Cygames and Sentai Filmworks. Hololive Night begins on July 4 at Dodger Stadium, followed by Hello Kitty Night in August, which is also a collaboration with the LA Dodgers. Animate, the world’s largest anime and manga chain store, will also open a Los Angeles location in 2023.
The One Piece manga is licensed by VIZ in North America, while the anime is streamed on Crunchyroll. Crunchyroll describes the series as follows: “Monkey D. Luffy refuses to let anyone or anything stand in his way of becoming the pirate king. With a course set for the treacherous waters of the Grand Line and beyond, this is one captain who will not give up until he has claimed the greatest treasure on Earth: the Legendary One Piece.”
