Spy x Family, Tatsuya Endo’s beloved manga and anime series, is embarking on a new mission in collaboration with Adidas to support Japan’s national football team, Samurai Blue. This collaboration features new artwork and an adorable line of merchandise, all of which are available for international shipping.
According to Mantan Web, the Japanese international football team’s latest merchandise campaign is centered on Spy x Family. The collaboration includes an exclusive Samurai Blue x Spy x Family jersey, with Anya Forger wearing a Samurai Blue uniform and proudly holding a football (or soccer ball). These Adidas jerseys are available in the team’s signature colors of white and navy for 5,980 yen (approximately US$37.96) on Shop TV Tokyo.
The rest of the Forger family, including Loid, Yor, and their dog Bond, appear in other pieces from the new merchandise line. Fans can find acrylic keychains, stands, seat covers, magnets, and stickers featuring the charming Forger family.
This is not Samurai Blue’s first collaboration with a popular anime series. They previously collaborated with Blue Lock for the 2022 Adidas Blue Lock kit, which famously helped the team defeat Spain in the 2022 World Cup. Spy x Family’s second collaboration with the J. League emphasizes the series’ popularity and international recognition.
The campaign language on Shop TV Tokyo’s website promotes the new line with phrases like, “SPY x FAMILY’s very popular character is on the Japanese national soccer team!?” or “Wearing official goods, together with Anya and the others, let’s support the Japanese national soccer team that challenges the world!”
Tatsuya Endo’s manga Spy x Family made its debut in Shonen Jump+ in 2019. The story revolves around the unlikely Forger family. Loid Forger, aka secret agent Twilight, is on a mission to keep world peace between two opposing nations, which is centered at the prestigious Eden College, a school for elite children. To keep his cover, Twilight adopts Anya Forger, a psychic, and enters a marriage of convenience with Yor Forger, a secret assassin known as the Thorn Princess. Their dog, Bond, can see into the future. Although Anya knows the truth about everyone, the rest of the family tries to maintain a ‘normal’ appearance, which leads to hilarious misadventures.
Wit Studio produced an anime adaptation of the series in 2022, which was met with critical and commercial success. A third season is currently in the works, and the original Spy x Family manga has over 35 million copies in circulation as of March 2024.
