Yoo Soohyun, the newest member of the Solo Leveling: Arise roster, is a mage who uses fire-based attacks in the form of firearms. Netmarble, the game’s official developer, has stated that Soohyun will be available as a rate-up character in her dedicated banner until July 31, 2024.

Her exclusive weapon, Overdrive, significantly boosts her abilities. It increases Soohyun’s defense penetration by 4% and improves her Core Attack, Kill Shot, and Hell Fire by 8%. Players can obtain this powerful weapon by crafting or taking part in two ongoing events in the game.

Soohyun is described as “a popular model, an A-Rank Hunter, heir to a wealthy family, and the only woman in the Ahjin Guild! She is perfect in every way and does not waste any effort.” This background lends depth to her character, making her an intriguing addition to the game’s plot.

Her basic skill, Killshot, inflicts elemental weakness damage on enemies regardless of their true weaknesses. Her ultimate skill, Zeored-in Blast, launches a barrage of magical energy attacks. Her passive skill also grants her the Spotlight effect when using Trick Shot or Firing Swarm, which increases defense penetration by 24%.

Leah Clark, known for her roles as Himiko Toga in My Hero Academia and Mavis Vermillion in Fairy Tail, provides the voice for Soohyun. This high-profile casting adds to the anticipation for Soohyun’s debut.

Soohyun joins the ranks of other original hunters created for the game, including Alicia Blanche, a ‘ice witch,’ and Meilin Fisher, a water-element healer. Soohyun, unlike these characters, makes her Solo Leveling webtoon and novel debut in the “Hunters Guild Gate Arc”. Given that Solo Leveling Season 1 adapted the first seven story arcs, fans look forward to Soohyun’s appearance in Season 2, which will cover the “Hunters Guild Gate Arc.”

Solo Leveling Season 2 is expected to premiere in late 2024, though an official date has yet to be confirmed. Meanwhile, Season 1 is available for streaming on Crunchyroll. Solo Leveling: Arise is available on Apple, Google Play, and PC via the Netmarble Launcher. A Steam release is scheduled for 2024, with home console ports coming in 2025.
