Chapter 80: A Crime is A Crime

Spread the love

Nojiko concludes the past of Nami and requests Luffy and the others not to refer to Nami as their friend, as it might raise suspicions among the Arlong Pirates and jeopardize her 8-year plan and hard work.

Meanwhile, Nami is at her house in Cocoyashi Village, reminiscing about her past decision to hide 100 million Belli under the orange tree. During a walk, Luffy notices the presence of a marine with Genzou in the village. The marine captain interrogates Genzou about the whereabouts of Nami’s house and demands him to lead them there.

The peaceful atmosphere of Nami’s home is disrupted by the sudden appearance of the marines, who falsely accuse her of theft and start searching her house to find the money she collected from looting pirates. Despite Nami’s resistance, the marines, with their superior numbers, easily overpower her. Nami realizes that the marine captain is a puppet of Arlong, sent to foil her plan of buying the village.

To her surprise, Genzou reveals that the whole village knew about Nami’s plan to save it, but they deliberately kept it from her to prevent putting unnecessary pressure on her and trapping her in their expectations.

Nami’s resistance is supported by other villagers, and in response, the marines open fire, with Neijiko getting shot in the stomach. Witnessing everything, Luffy is noticed by Nami, who screams at him to leave the village as he has no business being there. Nami then rushes towards Arlong Park, realizing that it’s all a ploy by Arlong to ruin her 8-year plan.

However, at Arlong Park, Arlong grabs Nami by the throat, denying her accusations and laughing wickedly.
