The town people are getting increasingly worried about the chief’s safety. Carrying their sticks, they march towards the town to save the chief. Meanwhile, Buggy discloses the secret about his relationship with Shanks. He reveals that both of them worked as Pirate Trainees, and Shanks always used to irritate him. One day, after successfully looting a ship, Buggy happened to find a treasure map that marked the location of a valuable treasure on the sea bed.
Buggy decided to keep the treasure a secret to himself. Shanks then informed him about the discovery of a Devil Fruit on an enemy ship, explaining that anyone could have it. At first, Buggy showed no interest in the Devil Fruit, as consuming it would mean losing the ability to swim. However, upon learning that the Devil Fruit could be sold for a hefty 100 million belly, Buggy decided to fake consuming the fruit, intending to sell it later for a large sum.
In an unexpected turn of events, Shanks suddenly appeared, and Buggy accidentally swallowed the Devil Fruit at that very moment. Frightened by the prospect of drowning due to the Devil Fruit’s power, Buggy jumped into the ocean to reach the sea bed and find the treasure. However, as he could not swim after consuming the Devil Fruit, he began to sink. Fortunately, Shanks came to his rescue and saved him.
Buggy blames Shanks for his inability to reach the underwater treasure and expresses his joy in hating Shanks. He proudly announces that while he cannot have the underwater treasure, the above-sea treasure belongs to him. He warns that anyone who dares to steal his treasure will be severely punished. With that, Buggy, with his torso separated and holding a knife, flies towards Nami, who is caught stealing the treasure.
