Studio Eclypse has unveiled the highly anticipated debut anime trailer for “Berserk: The Black Swordsman” in English dub, which will be released in 2025. The new trailer has received positive feedback for its improved cuts and animations, which show progress from the initial Japanese-language trailer released in May.
The trailer is available on both X (formerly Twitter) and YouTube. Studio Eclypse stated, “Thanks to your feedback and our supporters, we have upgraded a number of cuts, added more in-between cels, and revamped some of the animation in the hopes of making the experience more enjoyable. ” Thank you for your support, strugglers.”
The full English voice cast was revealed, which includes Justin Parker as Guts and @MilaVA as Casca, who also serves as the series’ voice director. The cast also includes @HeliosVA as a Soldier, Grant Corvin as the narrator and a Soldier, @weirdsimon_va as Snake Lord, @coinbear2021 as Lord Mayor, and Lucia Lobosvilla as Puck. “Berserk: The Black Swordsman” will be released as a series beginning in the summer of 2025.
Despite the overall positive reception, some viewers expressed concerns about the high level of detail, which could affect animation fluidity. Studio Eclypse addressed these concerns in the latest trailer, aiming to strike a balance between detail and fluidity.
The “Berserk” franchise’s global popularity remains strong. It was one of three manga to appear on The New York Times’ Graphic Books and Manga bestseller list in June. The franchise continues to inspire new cosplay and merchandise releases, including Good Smile Company’s new Guts figure and an upcoming board game by award-winning designer Monolith.
Dark Horse Comics licenses “Berserk” in North America and describes the manga series as follows: “His name is Guts, the Black Swordsman, a feared warrior known only in whispers. Bearer of a massive sword, an iron hand, and the scars of countless battles and tortures, his flesh is indelibly marked with The Brand, an unholy symbol that attracts the forces of darkness and dooms him as their sacrifice.
But Guts will not accept his fate passively; he will cut a crimson swath of carnage through the ranks of the damned – and anyone else foolish enough to oppose him! Guts, accompanied by Puck the Elf, more of an annoyance than a companion, relentlessly pursues a dark, bloodstained path that leads only to death or vengeance.
