Hearing about Red Hair Shanks, Luffy questions Buggy about his whereabouts, but Buggy is not the kind of person to give Luffy the desired information. Instead, he arms himself with three knives in each hand and a knife popping out from his shoes. Buggy separates his lower body, his legs spinning like a windmill, targeting Luffy. Luffy quickly jumps up to evade the attack. While in the air, Luffy becomes the target of more knives, but he stretches his arm to a nearby pole and escapes from the knives’ reach. In a counterattack, Luffy stretches his hand all the way to Buggy’s face, but Buggy skillfully evades the punch with swift footwork and plans to cut Luffy’s arm.
However, as Luffy’s body stretches back, it pulls his whole body towards Buggy. Luffy prepares for another attack on Buggy’s neck, but Buggy successfully separates his neck to avoid the attack. The impact of the collision sends Luffy crashing into nearby buildings. Buggy then launches his whole hand holding a knife, aiming for Luffy’s face. Luffy catches his hand, but again Buggy separates his hand, injuring Luffy and leaving a cut on his precious straw hat. Seeing the damage to his treasured hat, Luffy becomes furious as it holds deep significance for him.
Taking advantage of Luffy’s anger, Buggy cunningly targets the hat and pierces it, taking it into his custody. Upon closely examining the hat, Buggy realizes that it belonged to Shanks and discloses the link between him and Shanks. Buggy reveals that both of them were in the same ship when they were pirate trainees. Enraged with fury, Luffy kicks Buggy, sending him flying away.
