Mohji returns to Buggy, defeated and attempts to reveal Luffy’s secret as a rubber man, but he faints before he can disclose it. Shushu makes his way back to the townfolk hideout, where the people are relieved to see him and tend to his injuries. However, they remain worried about Chief Boodle’s well-being.
Witnessing Luffy’s determination in the fight, Chief Boodle becomes fired up and decides to fight against the pirates to protect his town. Recalling how they built the town from scratch 40 years ago, Chief Boodle cannot bear the thought of not standing up for his people and his town. Luffy further motivates him to fight for the right cause. Suddenly, a dozen houses, including Chief Boodle’s, are blown up by Buggy Balls. Luffy, Nami, and Chief are left in shock and despair. Fortunately, Zoro, who was sleeping in Chief’s house, emerges unharmed, bringing a sense of relief to the others.
Not withstanding the atrocities of Buggy’s crew, Chief Boodle rushes towards the hideout of the Buggy Pirates, admitting that his decision is reckless but as a chief, it is his duty to protect the town. Impressed by Chief Boodle’s determination, Luffy assures him of his safety during the upcoming fight. Zoro is also determined to take on the Buggy Pirates. Chief confronts the pirates and challenges them to face him. Luffy and Zoro get ready to support the old man and prepare for the impending battle.
