To teach Luffy and his friends a lesson, Buggy summons his vice captain, Beast Trainer Mohji, who sits tall atop a massive beast seeking permission to take Roronoa Zoro’s head. Meanwhile, Zoro, Luffy, and Nami have run a considerable distance. Zoro, weakened and losing a lot of blood, struggles to walk properly. As they search for a way to free Luffy from the cage, they notice a plain-faced dog nearby. Nami shows them the key to the cage and throws it on the ground, but to their dismay, the dog swallows it.
In frustration, Zoro and Luffy shake the dog to retrieve the key, only to be stopped by a man named Boodle, the chief of the village, who introduces himself along with the dog’s name, Shushu. Boodle assists Zoro with his injury and allows him to rest in his nearby house. Luffy inquires about Shushu and learns that the dog has been guarding the pet store, even after the owner’s death due to illness. For Shushu, the pet store holds cherished memories of his late owner.
While they discuss the dog and its loyalty, they suddenly hear a loud roar. Turning around, they see Beast Trainer Mohji seated on his beast, Richiee. In a rush to escape, Chief Boodle and Nami make their way out of the scene. Richiee lunges toward the cage to attack Luffy, but unexpectedly, the cage breaks, freeing Luffy. In a wild frenzy, Richiee strikes Luffy, sending him flying and causing destruction to several houses in the process. Luffy lands on the other side of the town, while Mohji observes Shushu still guarding the pet store with unwavering loyalty.
