Sanrio’s Hello Kitty and Adidas have teamed up for another official collaboration. This time, the release is for new Stan Smith shoes, with the two companies continuing their long-standing collaboration by introducing a pair of new colorways for adults to commemorate Kitty’s 50th anniversary.
The Adidas x Sanrio Adifom Stan Smith Platform Mule (Women) is now available at popular retailer Nordstrom. The sneakers are available in “Core Black/ Red/White” and “Clear Pink/ Clear Pink/Red” colorways and retail for around $80. They are available in adult sizes, but are quickly selling out, with only a few sizes 8 and 9 still available. Readers can view images of the Adidas x Sanrio sneakers below. The Adidas x Sanrio Adifom Stan Smith Platform Mule (Women) was released to commemorate Hello Kitty’s 50th anniversary this year. It has a synthetic upper lining and sole and is described as “This bold platform mule that’s set atop a cushy foam footbed for comfort and has a playful print celebrating 50 years of Sanrio’s.” Nordstrom sells over 270 Hello Kitty products, including toothbrushes, cosmetics, bags, footwear, stationery, accessories, and even Retrospekt’s Hello Kitty FC-11 35mm film camera, which was created in collaboration with Sanrio.
Hello Kitty’s new footwear release comes shortly after the Hello Kitty x Adidas Sambae sneakers, which received new images and a release date last week. Journey’s currently lists them for $114.99, with many social media users describing the sneakers as must-haves due to their adorable details, particularly the pink/red bow, which has quickly become a staple of Adidas’ collaborations with Hello Kitty. The Adidas Originals x Hello Kitty Adilette Slides, like the Sambae and Stan Smiths above, have a bow but a pink plush finish instead of a red metallic one.
Adidas isn’t the only footwear company to collaborate with Hello Kitty. Crocs released another pair of Hello Kitty clogs this week, this time with a red and white polka-dot design. This followed seven previous Crocs x Hello Kitty clogs for children and adults.
Sanrio’s My Melody, Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin, and Kuromi previously appeared alongside Kitty in MAYLA’s high heel pumps release, which was themed “Even if I Grow Up” and teased, “I met you when I was little, and through all the happy and sad times, we’ve always been together. Because you were by my side, my childish heart has never changed since then. I still love you now that I’m an adult. I believe that you, my precious person, will be my lifelong friend.”
With these collaborations, Hello Kitty remains a beloved character, celebrating milestones and bringing joy to fans all over the world.
